In this section Mackay revisits techniques and ideas from previous years in which she prints, collages and draws on paper. The seed heads, stems and leaves from plants growing in her Stirlingshire garden have been used to make marks , creating works that she refers to as Plant Calligraphy. Japanese, Chinese and tissue papers printed using woodblock, gel printing and monoprinting techniques are used in creating collaged images.

Restrictions often involved confinement to within 4 walls, fences or hedges as well as unseen confinement: fear of the virus. This work reflects life in lockdown; confined by unseen borders and in some cases mount-boards and frames.
Repetition becomes commonplace in these conditions, it can become routine and mindless, mistakes can be made, parts missing from a routine as one ‘goes through the motion’ while thinking other things.
